B - Guard the Wind Daimyo Empty
PostSubject: B - Guard the Wind Daimyo   B - Guard the Wind Daimyo EmptyThu Jun 30, 2011 8:09 pm

Sonya

“You really think that Ame will attempt retaliation?” Sonya asked, waiting at the village entrance along with Jirobou. They were waiting for the Wind Daimyo to arrive, so that they could escort him to the village of Ishi, across the border. Ishi was in the country right next to Rain country, dangerously close to Ame. “I mean, we didn't leave any evidence behind, and there were no witnesses. As far as Ame should be concerned, the daimyo simply vanished.

Jirobou shook his head. “We can never be certain. No matter how meticulous we were in that mission, there is always a chance that the enemy could discover what we did, and they would want revenge for it. Most likely, they would want our daimyo's head on a pike. A daimyo for a daimyo. That is, in addition to their original goals. Most likely, we only delayed their actions and bought ourselves some time. River Country will still be able to get the message back to Rain Country eventually, so we have to be prepared for anything. What we have on our side now, though, is that we know of their plans. They no longer have the element of surprise. We are in prime position to snuff out their ambitions once and for all. For now, though, we are charged with protecting the Wind Daimyo, and so we shall.”

Sonya nodded slowly. “Right, makes sense. But do we really have to be the decoys?”

The Wind Daimyo would actually be traveling a day behind them, in the escort of several other shinobi. She and Jirobou would be going ahead with a decoy carriage, one that was rigged with enough explosive tags to blow up a city block. If they were to be attacked, they wouldn't be stopping their enemies from getting to the carriage. In fact, they would encourage it... right before the big boom.

“That was the job we were given, and that is the job we will do,” Jirobou said, with a slow nod.

“Right, right...” Sonya muttered. “I've just never been bait before.”

The Wind Daimyo arrived a few minutes later. Once he was there, all the shinobi assigned to this particular mission were gathered together and went over the plans one more time, until they were sure that everyone had it right. When the instructions were done being given out, they all went to their designated positions, with Sonya and Jirobou taking the lead with the decoy carriage. They would be traveling at a faster speed to put distance between themselves and the real daimyo by the time they reached the border. Ideally, there would be no attack, but they had to be ready for anything.

It took several days to finally reach the border. By now, they had put quite a bit of distance behind them, about a day's worth of travel ahead of the other carriage. That was how they wanted it. They were now entering into another country, a rather heavily overgrown country, with dark, twisting woods covering over ninety percent of the land. Anything could be waiting for them in there.

“Keep those eyes of your peeled,” Jirobou said, gazing around as they were enveloped in the darkness of the forest.

“Roger,” she said, activating her Sharingan and paying close attention to their surroundings. Nothing would escape her slight. If it so much as moved, she'd see catch it.

They continued traveling for quite some time without incident. Things could not go perfectly forever, though. Sonya spotted movement in the trees, coming in fast. She was just able to spot a full figure as it moved from one tree to the next. She also saw an Ame headband.

“Guess you were right,” she said, standing up from the front of the carriage. “Here they come.”

“Get ready to move,” Jirobou said. “Remember the plan and follow me.”

Just as the attackers were converging on their position, Sonya and Jirobou jump back and fled immediately into the forest. The attackers never gave them another look. After all, it was the daimyo that was their target, and he was supposed to be in the carriage. It wasn't long before a massive explosion filled the forest.

The moment that the explosion occurred, Sonya and Jirobou made their way back to the carriage location. They found a lot of flaming wreckage and body parts, a sure sign that their plan worked. And from what they could see, there weren't any other attackers in the immediate vicinity.

“This one's alive,” Jirobou said, motioning to a barely living Ame nin, missing his legs and one arm. “Let's get some information out of him before he bleeds to death.”
