Camp Hideyoshi Empty
PostSubject: Camp Hideyoshi   Camp Hideyoshi EmptyTue Sep 06, 2011 9:59 pm

A large fortress located on one of the mountains of Iron Country. The fortress is primarily made of wood and stone, but is strong and stable enough to hold its position on the mountain face. The genius of its construction allows for heat to be kept inside the base. There are several quarters for soldiers, an armory, and a training field where the samurai keep up their skill.

The camp is overseen by Captain Hideyoshi.

Camp Hideyoshi Empty
PostSubject: Re: Camp Hideyoshi   Camp Hideyoshi EmptyTue Sep 06, 2011 10:02 pm

The snow fell down at a slow rate, but enough that the vision of anyone without training was clearly obscured. Captain Hideyoshi raised an arm, trying to at least block the snow that seemed to blow in his face despite whatever direction he was facing. There were days when he hated this country and its weather. Ultimately though, it was his home and he would never abandon it. That was what this whole war was about after all.

He had been told by one of the Generals that he was to meet two new recruits for their army. One of them had arrived earlier and requested to be taken to his quarters immediately, only one other was supposed to arrive today. The army had spent good money, with nearly every soldier chipping in to afford their services. He just hoped that they were worth it.

On his right hip rested two swords, a katana and a wakizashi. He was trained well in them, and his other hand rested on the handle of the katana, as if expecting an attack at any moment. Despite his nervousness and the cold, he kept up his patient wait for the last recruit.

Chishio Iwakan

Iwakan couldn’t wrap the hooded coat around her form any tighter and yet she still tried. The cold seemed to penetrate straight through the thick material to seep into her slight frame with no remorse whatsoever for her suffering. This sucked!

Finally she seemed to reach her destination, speeding up her trudging walk to a brisk jog until she was face to face with the captain. She didn’t seem like much, standing there shivering violently. She appeared more like she’d been out in the cold for several weeks and had nearly starved to death before stumbling upon the camp.

“You m-must b-b-b-be Hideyoshi?” she asked quickly through chattering teeth. “Any chance you’ve got a place where I can warm up? It’s so c-c-cold!”

She wasn’t much for acknowledging rank or authority. Her uncouth methods tended to land her in hot water more often than not. She’d never really felt like putting forth the effort to learn common courtesy beyond saying please and thank you... most of the time.

PostSubject: Re: Camp Hideyoshi   Camp Hideyoshi EmptyWed Sep 07, 2011 11:13 pm

Luckily for her, Captain Hideyoshi was a fairly new captain in the Samurai Army. As such, he wasn't someone that demanded respect from everyone that was beneath him. He stood up as she appeared and asked about who he was. She matched the picture that was reported to him, and she knew his name. It had only been sent to her that HE was the one she needed to meet. He'd let the chakra sensors do their work once she was inside, but he saw no need to hassle her while she was outside there.

"Yes I am, come on in and follow me", he said as he looked up to the guards that were above. "Open the gates!", he shouted. Within about a minute, the wooden gate was lifted, using a series of levers and cranks. It was a firm fortress to say the least. "Right this way", he said as he moved forward. As they entered, she would feel the warmth coming back to her body.

"Thank you for your quick response Miss Iwakan", Hideyoshi said as they moved forward. On either side were samurai doing various things. Some were sharpening blades, while others were comparing styles and techniques. "Is there anything that you need of us before we talk about why you're here? Food? Some time to rest? Anything?", he asked as they moved down the long hallway.

It was clear that he was new, someone that was eager to please those around him. It was one of the things that those loyal to him liked about Hideyoshi. He was easy to get along with, and he was never one to beat people to show an example. Still..........Hideyoshi wasn't sure what missing nin were like. He just hoped that she was better than the last guy that came in.

Chishio Iwakan

Iwakan released a plainly audible sigh of relief as they moved from frigid to comfortably warm a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth that threatened to break her plainly apathetic visage. Finally being warm again was such a relief!

As they walked, she pushed the hood back on her coat, letting the over-sized article of clothing swim on her body now instead of clutching it tightly against herself. It was obvious that it wasn't her coat, but there was no indication of just who it belonged to. She didn't carry such things considering she generally made it a mental note to stay the hell away from really cold places. She preferred the open movement that her bandages provided her, but in weather like this she'd freeze to death within a few hours!

Iwa spent the first few moments of their stroll brushing the half melted snow from the portion of her wild blazing locks that hung before her eyes. It had been exposed to the elements a bit since it was foremost on her face. Once asked if she had any requests, however, she simply shrugged with a small grunt of indecision.

"So long as there's something flat and comfortable to set my ass on we can go ahead and just get on with it," came her reply. She was neither in a hurry or wanting anything at this point. She was grateful just to be out of that biting cold. One last phantom shiver ran its way down her spine before finally coming to rest.

Camp Hideyoshi Empty
PostSubject: Re: Camp Hideyoshi   Camp Hideyoshi EmptyThu Sep 08, 2011 4:22 am

Hideyoshi was decked from head to toe in plate mail, something that was pretty standard for Samurai in Iron country. It was far better than chain mail, provided better protection and maneuverability. Hideyoshi had been wearing it since he could first raise a sword, so the weight that it added had long since disappeared from his shoulders. Along with that, the work that the muscles did to get the stuff moving caused warmth, and the armor kept that warmth inside. Hideyoshi hadn't felt cold in some time. He could feel a bit of sympathy for Iwakan's situation. Still, she seemed fine enough.

"Please, take a seat here", Hideyoshi said as they moved into what seemed like a free area. It was a large square room, with various tables and areas cleared for different activities. Some samurai were wearing their leisurely clothes while others played cards and gambled what money they had. He took a seat across from Iwakan, not certain about how he should begin this firstly.

Why had they picked him for this job!? He didn't have any experience in talking to these people! Was she going to cut off his head if he failed to respect her!? He doubted it, but he clearly wasn't as happy as he'd like to be.

"I'm not sure how much you've been informed about your mission. But in summary, you've been hired to do a various amount of missions and tasks for our army, depending on the assignment you'll get the pay that you rightfully deserve", Hideyoshi began to explain to the female. "I won't be the one assigning your missions, you'll apparently receive those in private from command. Along with that, the only thing that I can tell you is that you'll mainly be working with Hissori Bikou, an apparently high ranking member of the missing nin community", Hideyoshi said as he glanced down a hallway. After a moment he turned back towards Iwakan. "Are you......familiar with Hissori at all?"

Chishio Iwakan

Iwakan was perfectly content to sit in the seat offered to her, hopping into it quickly and leaning back into full relaxation. She wasn’t half as distressed as she had been when she got here, though she still wasn’t giving off any sort of threatening air. Anyone who had ever dealt with a ninja, however, would know that looks could be deceiving and even gut feelings couldn’t always be trusted.

Once her current host had finished talking, Iwa let loose a big yawn with a stretch to match. All this official stuff was such a drag…

“I’ve heard things here and there, but I don’t put much faith in rumors from down the grapevine. I’ve never really bothered to dig too deeply. If any of it is true though, he sounds like a real prickmeister. I can see this being REAL enjoyable if he always has a stick up his ass.”

Hideyoshi gave a nod as Iwakan gave her impression of Hissori. He couldn't say that she was too far off with her guess. Of course, he had only spoken to Hissori for a few moments, and he had no idea what the man was really like. "Well, there might be times where the two of you might have to work together. However, if there is a conflict of interest you could always express to work away from him. As you are both our clients from here on, we want you both working at your best", Hideyoshi explained.

At that moment Iwakan would notice a group of samurai sitting at a table behind Hideyoshi. They appeared to be playing some sort of gambling game, one which she had never seen before. However, it was only a moment later that someone else showed up and whispered something to them. The three samurai looked at one another for a few moments before quickly getting up and darting off, unknown to Hideyoshi.

"Anyway......is there any particular mission that you would rather have signed to you? A particular skill that you believe we should be aware of?", Hideyoshi asked. It was clear that he was kinda just making up crap as he was going. He wasn't sure what to do next. It was only a moment later and some more samurai seemed to dart off down a particular hallway, appearing anxious to be somewhere. Hideyoshi didn't see any of it though, as he was too focused on Iwakan.

Chishio Iwakan

Iwakan didn't bother putting much thought into her answer, merely waving away the Captain's suggestion that they may be able to work seperately. She'd been able to deal with anyone so far. There was no reason she couldn't handle another dick in the endless line of ninjadom.

"Don't worry your pretty little head..." She didn't seem at all concerned. "I'm sure we'll find a way to get along just fine. I need to meet him before I can make any requests besides."

It wasn't until the second group of soldiers scurried off that Iwakan finally seemed to become slightly offset by it. It seemed rather odd how they were running off like that.

"Where's everyone going?" she asked with a casual nervousness to her voice. She'd been duped into a trap more than once considering she took any job that she could manage to pull. There were quite a few people happy to make a quick ryo off her head.

"Well I am happy to hear that you believe you can work together", Hideyoshi said with a slight smile. He knew that the generals probably weren't being as honest as they should be about the war front. After all, why would they need to hire missing nin if the war was going as well as they claimed? Hideyoshi didn't know what was going to be ahead for himself, but he knew they he'd needed to be stronger than he was now if he would survive. Still, now was not the time for that, apparently something had caught Iwakan's eye.

"Huh?", Hideyoshi asked. He hadn't realized what was going on. He turned around right as a third group of soldiers got up to leave. "Solider!", he shouted at one and caused him to stop dead and address Hideyoshi. "Where is everyone going? There aren't any practice drills today", Hideyoshi stated.

"Uh......well you see", the soldier began as he glanced down the way that everyone else had gone. "In the training room, Captains Hattori, Kaname and Misugo have challenged Hissori to a battle. They do not believe that he is worthy of helping us", he said before giving a bow and quickly darting off to follow his friends.

Hideyoshi was silent for a moment. "Three on one? Are they nuts? The general will kill them if they actually hurt him", he said to himself before turning to Iwakan. "Would you mind coming with me? I should probably try to stop this now that I know about it"

Chishio Iwakan

Iwakan sighed in exasperation at the announcement of what was going on and Hideyoshi’s request for her to get right back up when she’d barely been seated for a minute. Oh well, it couldn’t be helped. She stood up slowly and began to mosey her way along where the other soldiers had gone. At least it wasn’t some sneaky attempt on her life.

“If the rumor mill is accurate, you’re about to be down by three captains…” she mumbled. “Time to see if he’s worth anything…”

"Thank you Iwakan, I'm sorry if this inconveniences you", Hideyoshi said before turning and heading down to where the other soldiers were gathering. "And let us just hope that you're wrong", he added in a low tone. Captains often had duels in order to increase the morale of their troops, but they had never seen their captains take on someone like Hissori before. Needless to say, it was going to draw quite the crowd towards them. Even before they reached the sparring area, there was a crowd of samurai, trying to push through towards the fight.

"Stand down and let me through!", Hideyoshi shouted. Almost immediately the soldiers began to push themselves to the side, bowing in respect as Hideoyshi and Iwakan made their way past them. It was now a clear view to the training grounds, and why everyone had gathered would suddenly become very obvious. On one side of the field stood a lone man, swinging a wooden sword in his hand. He wore dark leather armor, and a face mask which allowed for only his eyes to be seen. He had an array of knives and short swords on his belt, but they were sheathed for the time being.

Suddenly, the three men on the opposite side charged forward, each of them having their own wooden swords. This was a training exercise, otherwise real swords would have been used. As they came forward, Hissori held his ground for a moment before charging forward.

Hissori Bikou

Hissori ran to the captain on the far right, not wanting to attack the one in the center. Their formation was a three pronged attack. By attacking the one on the far right, he'd force the other two to change direction the most. It would give him more time to react. The captain that he charged brought his blade to the side, getting ready to perform a side slash on Hissori. The missining nin leapt into the air, with the Captain's sword passing beneath him. In mid air Hissori launching a side kick to the Captain's jaw, sending him skidding across the ground, nearly knocking another of the captains over in the process.

Hissori quickly landed and turned around, ready to face the other two attackers. The two men charged forward, one of them lunging forward with a stab attack, while the other came in with a slash in order to block Hissori's escape route. Hissori quickly fell backwards, landing on his hands and back. As the attacks missed, he quickly performed a spin on the ground, knocking one of the captains off of his feet. The heavy armor he wore brought him crashing to the ground, making a heavy impact. Before the last captain could even react, Hissori used his hands to push himself up, launching a last uppercut on the third general. The man shot up, only to come crashing back down.

Hissori wiped at his hands, as if they were contaminated with some filth. He turned and began to slowly walk away from the victims of his fight. The fight had been going on for several minutes, Hideyoshi and Iwakan only caught the winning blows on each fighter.

"You......fight with no honor!", one of the captains shouted as he began to push himself back up to his feet.

Hissori glanced back for only a moment before continuing to walk away. "No.........but you did", he said simply as he walked away from the crowd. He threw the wooden sword down, grabbing his real katana from a table where he had been asked to place it earlier. He attached it to his belt once again, making sure that nothing had been tampered with.

Several samurai ran to their fallen captains, making sure that they were in decent medical condition. Hissori remained at the table, it seemed as if no one dared to approach him.

Chishio Iwakan

Iwakan released a subtle scoff at the display once it had ended. While it was skillful, Hissori hadn’t quite lived up to all the hype. She left Hideyoshi for the moment to instead approach the lone victor with her own brand of drunken swagger. She walked a quick semicircle around him, sizing him up well before stopping to talk.

“You’re skillful enough, though you don’t seem half as bloodthirsty as they say,” she began to the point. “I expected at least someone to come out of that with one less kidney to show for it. Anyway, I don’t usually work with a partner, but it seems that’s what’s been planned for us in this endeavor.” She held out a lazy hand for a hand shake, though she still lacked any sort of expression on her face let alone one of happiness or acceptance. “I expect you already know who I am if you’ve been here awhile.”

Hissori Bikou

Hideyoshi moved to go check on the captains, allowing Iwakan to talk to Hissori alone. As she began to speak he glanced up, watching her as she circled about him. He was silent for the time being, not giving a single facial feature as he listened. "So you've heard of me than? I'm honored", Hissori said simply as he took her hand and gave it a single shake before taking his hand back. "In regards to my performance back there, it wasn't necessary for any of them to be hurt. I've been hired to fight a war. I did what I had to in order for them to see that I'll get the job done. Frankly, if I wanted them dead they would be. As it is though, if I kill them it would mean more work for me", Hissori explained.

"In regards to you, all I know is that you're another missing nin. Other than that, I can't really say that I'm too familiar with your work. I normally only get familiar with the people I need to kill. Once they're dead I usually forget everything about them, no need to remember useless information after all", Hissori said as he glanced her up and down. "I can tell you have some experience under your belt, that much you make very obvious. Especially considering you're the only person with the balls to actually talk to me"

Chishio Iwakan

“And logical…” Iwakan started again as if she’d never actually stopped her analysis to listen to Hissori’s reply. Once the hand shake was finished she took the hand she’d used and placed it on her hip. “You’ll do. I suppose that I should be happy that you don’t know that much about me in that case. It means that no one wants me dead badly enough to hire you, though I’d have thought they’d at least share my name with you. The name’s Iwakan, Chishio Iwakan. Now you know. Feel free to call me whatever you want. I don’t really give a shit. I know enough about the biz to make me dangerous, but not enough to make me legendary. Don’t expect anything stellar.” Iwa had learned some time ago that it was always better to be underestimated than overestimated, even in the case of allies.

Hissori Bikou

"Well we will just have to hope that no one ever asks me to get to know you", Hissori said with only the slightest hint of a joking tone in his voice. He listened to the rest of her introduction, nodding at various points to show that he was still following along with the story. "As long as you know how to kill people, you'll do for me Iwakan", Hissori said as he glanced back towards the samurai who were escorting the captains off the field. The warriors had too much pride to be carried, so they walked through the pain, wanting to appear strong for their troops. "If I might ask Iwakan, what do you think so far of your employers?", Hissori asked as he leaned against a nearby wall. "As you can probably already tell, I'm not that impressed", he said honestly.

Chishio Iwakan

“You mean OUR employers?” Iwakan emphasized. She wasn’t the only one being paid to work for these guys… or at least that’s what she thought. She hopped up onto the table they were standing next to now to rest again since she’d only got a brief respite in the chair earlier, leaning forward to rest her elbow on her leg and her chin in her palm while she thought up a quick analysis of their situation.“If they’re willing to dole out the cash for our services then I’d assume that they’re pretty deep in it. They’ve got to be desperate to allow their campaign to be carried on the backs of ninjas… and missing-nins at that. Last I heard samurai honor and shinobi didn’t really go very well together. None of them seems particularly strong at first glance and, again, that honor thing kinda holds ‘em back. I’m pretty sure we’re about to fight a war on our own.”

Hissori Bikou

"Forgive me, I didn't sleep much last night. My body hasn't adjusted to this level of cold yet", Hissori admitted. "I'm from Ame, but I've never had to deal with these levels of temperatures before", he added as he crossed his arms in front of him. He glanced over at her as she said what her true feelings were about their employers. "Your observation matches mine. I hear that some of the generals are amazingly strong though, I look forward to seeing one of them fight", he added before hearing her closing comments. "I agree, according to my information I think they are in over their head"

"The enemy is a group of samurai that split off from the main military. Apparently they don't respect the new leader that came into power a few months back. They've split off, throwing away their honor in order to support who they believe the leader should be, a man by the name Misua. He leads them, and is apparently an extremely powerful warrior", Hissori added. "They will be samurai with less honor, willing to do what it takes to win. These men aren't the same............it's why they stooped to hiring us. We are the limits of their honor, they will go no farther than us"

“Heh… I’m with ya there,” Iwakan agreed about the cold with the slightest hint of a smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. “Even less of a chill in Iwa… This place is terrible.” She kind of missed it at this point… if they hadn’t put a hit on her head for reasons that were as of yet unknown to her.

“I hope we don’t end up having to fight that guy then,” she continued. Unlike Hissori, she seemed obnoxiously annoyed at the mention of a strong warrior. “I’d like to get through this with as little effort as possible. I hate drawn out fights…”

Hissori Bikou

"Worked a lot in Iwa? Or are you from there?", Hissori asked casually. He already admitted that he was originally from Ame, since most of the rumors had already divulged that fact about him anyway. He was going to guess the second one, since her words seemed to imply them on their own.

"You hate drawn out fights?", Hissori asked with a tiny laugh. "Well than I guess that gives you more motivation to end a war before it starts", Hissori said as he pushed himself off the wall. "Unless we kill their leader in the first fight, we'll probably be here a while", he said with a tiny chuckle. "Well, Hideyoshi told me that we'd be briefed on our first mission tomorrow. I'd suggest that we part and get some rest"

Chishio Iwakan

“Born and raised…” Iwakan drifted off a bit in her speech, not seeming to come back all that much until Hissori spoke up again. “…I suppose. Honestly I’d rather take on an army of trash goons, but I’d give just about anything to get out of this frozen hellhole as quickly as possible. I’d be perfectly willing to go along with your idea as it stands.”

She nodded as he suggested that they both get some rest, rotating her shoulder a few times before hopping off the table and back onto her feet.

“I guess I should ask where I’ll be staying then. Later.” At that she departed from their conversation to approach Hideyoshi once again.

Hissori Bikou

Hissori gave a simple nod as Iwakan said that she was goign to depart in order to get some rest. "See you in the morning than, our first mission begins tomorrow", the assassin said before turning and walking off down a hallway. A couple of samurai kept their gaze fixed upon him, but no one spoke or tried to stop him. Within moments he would vanish to his quarters.

Hideyoshi turned back to Iwakan as she approached him. After seeing to the safety of the generals, he wanted to make sure that Iwakan didn't have any more questions. "So.....was he what you expected?", he asked curiously in reference to Hissori.

Chishio Iwakan

Iwakan crossed her arms casually, placing her weight on one foot as Hideyoshi asked his question.

“Not entirely,” she answered honestly. “He’s not as cryptic and brooding as I expected. That’s a good thing of course. It seems to be like a sickness amongst us missing-nins, ya know? I think we’ll get along alright. So do you have private rooms around here? It seems sorta like a sausage-fest around here. I’d rather not have any wandering eyes.”

Hissori Bikou

Hideyoshi gave a nod. "Well I suppose that's good news, you two being able to work together is definitely an advantage that we could use right now", Hideyoshi admitted as he scratched at the back of his head. As Douza asked the question about where she'd be staying he gave a quick nod. "Ah yes, just follow me", he said before walking down and into another hallway.

Several minutes later and they came to a room that was extremely far from the others. "The generals wanted to make sure that you weren't disturbed. This area is incase we had any special guests. You have your own room and washing area, and you'll be given the only key", he said before tossing it towards Iwakan. "You should find anything you need in here, but don't hesitate to ask if you require anything in particular", Hideyoshi added.

"Also, report to the training center where Hissori fought the captains at eight hundred hours tomorrow morning. You and Hissori will be given your first assignment", Hideyoshi said with a smile. "And with that, good night", Hideyoshi said with a small bow before turning and leaving the area.
